About

Heide’s Volunteer Program offers opportunities to over 270 passionate and generous people to support our organisation through their involvement in our galleries, gardens, education and public programs. Our museum could not function without the efforts and passion of our volunteers, who form a diverse and creative community.

As part of our invigilation team, Visitor Services Volunteers assist in the Museum’s daily front line operations and customer service by providing comprehensive information to visitors relating to exhibitions and artists, Heide history, architecture and landscape and by helping to enforce regulations governing the protection and security of works of art, visitors and staff.

Volunteering in Visitor Services offers the opportunity to engage with Heide’s exhibitions on a deeper level, invited to volunteer exclusive curatorial briefings, and pathways to training as Education and Public Programs Guides.

Our Gardens Volunteers support the routine maintenance of key areas of the museum’s grounds, including general maintenance in the Heide Cottage Gardens, Heide Modern Kitchen Garden and Rose Walk, the Sculpture Park and across our 16 acre site.

Heide hosts two volunteer intakes a year, but we leave our applications open for any expressions of interest outside of these recruitment periods.

Involvement in our Volunteer Program requires the commitment of a regular fortnightly shift.

Our next volunteer recruitment will be in April 2026.

To apply select the appropriate Apply Now button below to be redirected to My Impact, our volunteer management platform to start your application. You will need to create a My Impact login, complete an application form and upload a copy of your current resume.
