We are excited to welcome visitors back to the museum from Saturday 28 November with a few important changes. We are working hard to ensure the safety of our visitors, staff and volunteers by implementing a range of hygiene and physical distancing measures, adhering to the guidelines issued by the Victorian Government. Please read the following information carefully to help us protect everyone’s health.

Before your visit:

  • Please book a timed-entry ticket online prior to your visit. Tickets can be purchased by clicking the ticket button below.

  • Heide Members and children under 16 who receive free entry to the museum also need to register their timed entry ticket to ensure their place.

  • All visitors will be required to provide names and contact details via our ticketing system or upon entry to support contact tracing. The information will be held according to relevant privacy law requirements.

  • Please plan to arrive at the Heide Galleries main reception at your allocated time and wait to be checked in by our Visitor Services staff.

  • We are encouraging contactless payments, so please bring a credit or debit card for any on-site purchases.

  • We ask that you please do not visit if you are unwell, have experienced cold or flu symptoms in the last 14 days, or have returned from overseas in the last 14 days.

When you are at the Museum:

  • Please start your visit at the Heide Galleries main building to be checked in.

  • Please use the hand-sanitiser provided at each building on arrival.

  • Help us to maintain social distancing within our buildings and grounds by keeping at least 1.5 metres space between you and others at all times and not entering a room if it is not possible to safely distance yourself.

  • Your timed entry ticket enables entry to the Heide Galleries building to view our feature exhibition Joy Hester: Remember Me. Please arrive on time for your booking.

  • Your ticket also gives you access to Heide Cottage and Heide Modern during the day of your visit (between 10am and 5pm.) Access to these buildings is not timed but visitor numbers will be monitored. Please note, you may be required to queue prior to entry.

  • Cough and sneeze into your elbow or a tissue and put the tissue in a bin.

  • Wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds in our restrooms.

  • We ask that you please wear a fitted face mask unless you have a lawful exemption not to wear one as outlined here.

  • Cloaking facilities will not be available so please do not bring large items of luggage with you.

It is a condition of entry that all visitors adhere to these requirements at all times during their visit.

Health and safety measures we are putting in place:

  • Clearly marked entry and exits with signage to help visitors maintain safe distances.

  • Each of Heide’s exhibition buildings has a maximum capacity, based on the rule of 1 person per 4 square metres. Please follow instructions from Heide staff.

  • We have removed some seating in the gallery spaces to allow for physical distancing. Folding chairs are available and cleaned regularly, please ask a Visitor Services staff member if you require a chair.

  • Cleaning of the site will be undertaken daily complying with DHHS and WorkSafe guidelines, with high touch areas sanitised frequently throughout the day.

  • All Visitor Services Staff are trained in maintaining health and hygiene protocols.

  • We will continue to be guided by the Victorian Government’s health guidelines and will provide updates to this information.
