Dear Mirka, Love Heide

A fitting tribute to an exceptional woman

This year marks a milestone in the life of one of Heide’s most beloved artists. In recognition of Mirka Mora’s 90th birthday, the museum will present a landmark exhibition of her works on paper and soft sculpture, and launch the new publication Mirka and Georges: A Culinary Affair.*

We want all of you who share our love for Mirka to help us celebrate her extraordinary contributions to Australian culture. By making a gift to Heide Museum of Modern Art in honour of Mirka, and by writing a message for her, you will help to build a fitting tribute to an exceptional woman.

As her son, William, has said: ‘Heide has played a huge part in Mirka’s personal and creative life. She has often commented that the museum’s founders, John and Sunday Reed, would be very proud of what the institution has become today.’

Your gift to Heide today will contribute to the exhibition, Mirka Mora: Pas de Deux—Drawings and Dolls, opening 27 October, as well as the associated publication, and a range of public and education programs that will enable the next generation of art lovers to be inspired and delighted by Mirka’s work.

A selection of the messages to Mirka will be displayed at Heide for all to enjoy (unless you prefer yours to remain private). It is our hope through this project to capture a range of anecdotes and stories about Mirka and her work, which will be collated and presented to her sons, Philippe, William and Tiriel, so that they can be shared with her and the extended family.
