David Jolly
David Jolly, Love Lover, Paris 2014, oil on glass, courtesy of the artist
For this exhibition David Jolly delves back through his thirty-year practice to showcase long forgotten paintings from unexpected collections. This exploration of the archive will be complemented by new works that reinvigorate his previous subjects, and a series of watercolours taking the form of a movie strip-like frieze throughout the modernist house. Inspired by filmic and photographic genres as well as documentary traditions, the paintings reflect on the role of the artist as witness, reporter and traveller.
