A project show by Melbourne sculptor Caleb Shea, whose intuitive and material response to the lineage of modernist abstraction – from Constructivism to Brancusi to David Smith – aims to find a new trajectory for 1960s formalism, seeing it as open to multiple extensions. In his work, colour moves across sculptural planes and line and form are central ‘objects of obsession and attraction’ , pivotal to his experiments with the configuration of objects in space.
