In 1932, at the age of 24, Cynthia Reed opened a modernist furnishings shop and gallery in Collins Street, Melbourne and quickly became part of the city’s growing creative community. During its two years of operation her studio shop was a platform for progressive artists and designers to meet, exhibit and sell their work, with contemporary art displayed alongside modern furniture and textile design. Join guest curator Lili Belle Birchall as she discusses Cynthia Reed's ground-breaking venture and support of Melbourne’s early avant-garde.
