In conjunction with Charles Blackman: Schoolgirls, Heide presents a series of painting and drawing workshops focusing on the techniques and ideas used by Blackman to create his famous Schoolgirl series. Aimed at introducing participants to traditional and innovative approaches to painting and drawing, these workshops are suitable for all skill levels. In each session participants will view and discuss selected works within the exhibition prior to commencing their artworks in Heide’s beautifully situated Education Centre. All materials are provided.

By combining different media, such as charcoal, pen and ink, in a single work, Charles Blackman created sensitive drawings of lone figures in simplified surrounds. Learn how to create drama and atmosphere in your drawings, through the use of line and tone in this mixed-media drawing workshop led by Heide’s artist educators. Suitable for all levels of experience.
