Join an Art Talk between guest curator Anna Zagala and artist John Foubister, marking the opening of the exhibition <a href="https://www.heide.com.au/exhibitions/ken-whisson-and-john-foubister-going-back-in/">Ken Whisson &amp; John Foubister: Going Back In</a>.
When Whisson, a celebrated painter then living in Perugia, Italy, met Foubister, a recent art school graduate, in Adelaide in 1984, the two were at very different stages of their lives. From this chance encounter they forged a friendship that spanned decades, until Whisson’s death in 2022.
Ken Whisson &amp; John Foubister: Going Back In brings together the work of these two painters, along with examples of key artists from the Heide ‘circle’ — Danila Vassilieff, Joy Hester, Sidney Nolan — associates of Whisson’s who shaped his artistic development. This conversation will reflect on artistic influence, what artists offer each other, and the ways in which memory is a generative force.
