In this program students will analyse, interpret and respond to artworks on display using the Analytical Frameworks. Students will consider how artwork may contain different layers of meaning and how artists develop a style. They will also have the opportunity to reflect on the gallery environment and examine how artworks are presented.

VCD: DESIGN IN PRACTICE
Students reflect on the architectural design process and learn how the firm McGlashan Everist worked with clients John and Sunday Reed to develop Heide II. This tour will enhance students’ understanding of historical and contemporary Australian design, Environmental, Industrial and Communication design, technical drawing and professional industry practice.

STUDIO ARTS: ART INDUSTRY CONTEXTS
In this one-hour program students gain an insight into the role of Heide as a public museum and learn about the processes involved in curating, presenting and promoting exhibitions, and the methods involved in conservation and preservation of artworks. This program focuses on the requirements of Unit 4: Outcome 3.

INSIDE THE MUSEUM
This two-hour program, devised to complement the VCE Studio Arts study design, provides a behind-the-scenes insight into how a museum operates. Students will meet with a range of key museum staff and learn about the processes involved in curating, presenting and promoting exhibitions, and the conservation and restoration of artworks.
