Playing a vital role in the daily operations of the Museum, volunteers are valued members of the Heide team. In supporting the Museum, volunteers have the opportunity to become part of the Heide community and form a deeper connection with inspiring art, architecture and landscape.

We are currently recruiting volunteers for our Friends of Yaluk Langa Garden Program and Visitor Services volunteer program.

Yaluk Langa Garden Program

We will accept applications for the Yaluk Langa program until places are filled.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a group interview in late May. Successful applicants will undertake training on their first day, Saturday 25 June.

Visitor Services Program

Visitor Services applications must be submitted by Tuesday 14 June. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a group interview in late June. Successful applicants will undertake two days compulsory training on Friday 15 July and Sunday 17 July and will commence volunteering after training.

Position Descriptions

Friends of Yaluk Langa Garden volunteer
Volunteers will assist the Heide garden staff in the care, maintenance and presentation of Heide’s indigenous garden project along the Yarra River. Heide will engage Wurundjeri’s Narrap land management team to conduct training with the volunteers on indigenous land management approaches and techniques.

Visitor Services volunteer
Volunteers participate in the daily activities of the museum; providing courteous and comprehensive information to visitors whilst invigilating in the galleries.

Garden volunteer
Volunteers assist in the routine maintenance and presentation of key areas of our grounds, including the Heide I gardens, Heide II kitchen garden, the Rose Walk and the sculpture park.
