SPRING SCHOOL HOLIDAY ACTIVITES
Milky-Moos
Tuesday 21 September 10am–12.30pm
Milk, cream and butter were staples in the Heide diet and part of the daily ritual was getting up at 5am to milk the cows Cappuccino and Espresso. In this dairy-themed workshop children will milk a real cow, separate cream, churn butter and create a cow-themed artwork. Suitable for ages 6–10.

Cartooning Workshop
Wednesday 22 September 10am–12.30pm
This workshop aims to give children the techniques and confidence to overcome the ‘I can’t draw’ barriers, no matter what their ability. Children learn cartooning techniques by drawing characters with a range of moods and expressions. They also learn how to create their own characters, by starting off with simple shapes and building the cartoon. Suitable for ages 6–10.

Wandering with Charlie
Thursday 23 September, 10am–12.30pm
Back by popular demand! Accompany artist Charlie Sofo on a ‘wander’ around the Heide gardens to create ephemeral art interventions and actions in the environment. On the way, collect matter to be utilised as the basis for a group installation artwork. Charlie's exhibition I wander was recently on show in Heide III: Project Gallery. Dress according to the weather. Suitable for ages 6–10.

Mythmakers
Friday 24 September 10am–12.30pm
This workshop is created especially for storytellers. Dramaturge Penelope Bartlau takes children throughout Heide playing theatre and improv games. Children visit significant places and artworks to weave a fantastical narrative while discovering new ways to feel, understand and think about art and the environment. Suitable for ages 6–12.

Frankencritters
Tuesday 28 September 10am–12.30pm
Inspired by Heide artworks of exotic, whimsical creatures and animals, children construct their own fantastic, grotesque beast. With Black Hole Theatre they will construct and animate their creature. Aromatic Green Thumbs
Wednesday 29 September 10am–12.30pm
Heide Gardener Isabella Amouzandeh takes young green thumbs on a tour of the gardens to enjoy the seasonal scents, textures and colours. Children are taught how to strike cuttings collected on the walk and plant them into little personally decorated pots to take home and watch grow. Dress according to the weather. Suitable for ages 6–10.

Free Range Art

Playing with Printing
Friday 1 October 10am–12.30pm
Designer Luise Adams guides participants through a range of printmaking processes. Create artworks and cards with prints and patterns inspired by and with materials found in the Heide gardens. A great introduction to printmaking and learning to look at the environment through creative eyes. Suitable for ages 8–15.
