Immersion days

Students immerse themselves in Heide’s unique environment and experience a range of activities that relate to art, design, history and the environment.

Teachers can choose three to four activities from the list below, providing students with a comprehensive overview of both art and the Heide site.
  • Heide I (original weatherboard home of John and Sunday Reed)
  • Heide II (award-winning modernist home of the Reeds) Note: closed for climate control upgrade until 1 July 2008
  • Kitchen Garden
  • Sculpture Park
  • Scar tree & Wurundjeri history
  • Reflection/response session in the Sidney Myer Education Centre
  • Art exhibition
  • Art-making workshop
Suitable for all ages, but particularly primary students who have not previously visited Heide or are learning about public galleries.

It is recommended that teachers book in for approximately four hours and have a picnic lunch on-site.
