School Holiday Activity

Education Officer, Anna Caione, leads a tour of Heide’s beautiful gardens and Sculpture Park followed by an introduction to landscape sketching. Children will develop their drawings into landscape paintings, exploring techniques such as colour mixing and composition.

Children are requested to bring an art smock.

Sheep-shape
School Holiday Activity

10:00am - 12noon Thursday 15 January 2009

Led by Education Officer, Anna Caione, this workshop focuses on the major survey exhibition, The art of existence, Les Kossatz. The session begins with a guided tour of a selection of the artist’s sheep-themed artworks, followed by a workshop where children will learn how to create their own sheep sculptures in an individually created landscape setting.

Children are requested to bring an art smock and box in which to take their sculpture home.

Creative collage
School Holiday Activity

10:00am - 1:00pm Tuesday 20 January 2009

Children will be inspired by Heide’s extensive gardens and the paintings featured in the exhibition Hinterlands: Albert Tucker’s landscapes 1960–1975. Using a combination of collage and painting techniques, multimedia artist Liliana Barbieri will teach basic skills in landscape collage with materials and objects taken from nature as well as acrylic paints and mixed media.

Children are requested to bring an art smock and collected bark, dried leaves or gum nuts (optional).

Rock 'n' mould
School Holiday Activity

10:00am - 1:00pm Thursday 22 January 2009

Artist Fiona Abicare will explain the methods and practice of mixed media sculpture and her new installation, COVERS. Using collected rocks and fabric forms, children will learn a number of these processes through simple moulding and casting techniques.

Children are requested to bring an art smock and small collected rocks (up to 10cm diameter) or woven/textured fabric pieces.

Inside the museum: art industry contexts
