Professional Development: King Houndekpinkou and An Idea Needing to Be Made

Saturday 7 September 2019, 1–3pm

‘Clay, which is the material I interact the most with, has existed since the dawn of humanity. It is infused with all the knowledge available on Earth. Like an encyclopaedia. It can easily access one’s subconscious to reveal different aspects of our personality, our past, our story...’

King Houndekpinkou is an exciting Franco-Beninese contemporary ceramicist, whose work is exhibited in our current exhibition An Idea Needing to be Made: Contemporary Ceramics. King will share his story—how he works with clay, his practice, his artistic influences, and what motivates him. He will demonstrate using a potter’s wheel and hand-building techniques.

This event is a collaboration between Heide Museum of Modern Art and Manningham Art Studios.
