Create a tiny world full of big ideas in this small scale sculpture workshop that takes its cue from the exhibition Nabilah Nordin: Birdbrush and Other Essentials. Use modelling clay and mixed media to make micro objects—fantastical or realistic—that form an entire world small enough to hold in your hands!

Materials required:

  • Device and internet access
  • Something to protect your tabletop – large piece of paper, board etc
  • Multi-coloured pack of plasticine like this:
  • Toothpicks
  • Arolling pin or similar (a rolling pin for art is best but if you do not have one: thick round textas, large off-cut of wooden dowel)
  • A base to build your art on 8cm-15cm – thick card, lid of a peanut butter jar, ice-cream lid, block of wood etc
  • Twigs, bushes, or leaves – washed and dried
  • Scissors
  • Pencil and paper to sketch
  • Sharpener and eraser
  • Aluminium foil
