As virtual reality evolves and becomes more accessible, a new generation of Australian artists have embraced its immersive promise and sensorial potential. Through digital landscapes, these creators are developing new ways to communicate and interpret our varied realities and are developing models for international presentation.

The Mixed Realities: Virtual Reality Symposium program invites practicing artists and specialists in creative technologies to come together for a day of conversational exchange and practical insights. Presentations will explore the conceptual and technical opportunities of virtual world-building and the presentation complexities of gallery installation and audience engagement.

Hear from a range of artists that are pushing the boundaries of the VR medium, including: Emma Roberts & Ben Andrews (Petrichor VR ); Isobel Knowles & Van Sowerwine (Passenger VR); Sojung Bahng (Anonymous VR); Mohamed Chamas (cyber tasawwuf VR).

This event is produced by Experimenta in partnership with Heide Museum of Art.
