In conjunction with Charles Blackman: Schoolgirls, Heide presents a series of painting and drawing workshops focusing on the techniques and ideas used by Blackman to create his famous Schoolgirl series. Aimed at introducing participants to traditional and innovative approaches to painting and drawing, these workshops are suitable for all skill levels. In each session participants will view and discuss selected works within the exhibition prior to commencing their artworks in Heide’s beautifully situated Education Centre. All materials are provided.

Charles Blackman loved the depth of tone and feeling willow charcoal can produce. In this workshop we focus on the tradition of the ‘rub-back’ technique, a great way to improve your observational drawing skills while learning how to create form through the use of tone. Suitable for all skill levels.
