Heide, past and present

Students learn about the unique art, architecture, gardens and history of Heide, and engage with the art and ideas in our current exhibitions through guided observation, analysis and discussion.

EXHIBITION IN FOCUS

Designed to complement the exhibitions, this program encourages students to engage with artworks through in-depth analysis of a specific exhibition, theme or artist. Students will consider and discuss the formal qualities of artworks, their cultural and social contexts, possible interpretations and meanings. Student Program 2015

HEIDE HISTORY

Students will discover the unique history of Heide with a guided tour of the 15 acre site and learn about the legacy of John and Sunday Reed and their contribution to the modernist art movement in Melbourne through their patronage, support and promotion of contemporary artists.

INSIDE THE MUSEUM

This two-hour program, devised to complement the VCE Studio Arts study design, provides a behind-the-scenes insight into how a museum operates. Students will meet with a range of key museum staff and learn about the processes involved in curating, presenting and promoting exhibitions, and the conservation and restoration of artworks.

This program is subject to the availability of staff and behind-the-scenes access. Recommended for VCE Studio Arts students
