The Heide Foundation Collectors’ Group aims to develop Heide’s Collection, reasserting its unique place in the Australian cultural landscape.
In a new initiative commencing in 2008 we invite you to directly contribute to the future of Heide Museum of Modern Art’s Collection through the new Heide Foundation Collectors' Group.
Funds raised from this group will support acquisitions for Heide’s Collection in two priority areas: contemporary art and modernist art.

Collecting at Heide has a remarkable and engaging past. From the time of their arrival at Heide in 1934, founders John and Sunday Reed developed a remarkable private collection over five decades, including works by celebrated artists Sidney Nolan, Albert Tucker, Arthur Boyd and Joy Hester. In 1981, the State Government purchased the core of the Reeds’ personal collection to form the founding collection of the new museum, Heide Museum of Modern Art. Since then, the Collection has expanded substantially through acquisitions, gifts and bequests such as the Albert & Barbara Tucker Gift, the Baillieu Myer Collection of the 80s and the Barrett Reid Bequest. The Collection now includes over 2,200 works spanning the last eight decades of Australian art.
You can contribute to Heide’s history of collecting with an annual donation of $2,000 or more and continue to grow Heide’s reputation as a nationally significant art museum with innovative programming.
Heide will offer a program of annual collector events such as exhibition previews, studio visits and thematic lectures.
